Current program offerings include a youth employment and outreach program and the Museum without walls program which sponsors numerous events, including the annual Umoja Fest African Heritage Festival & Parade celebration in August. Other events scheduled for 2008 includes a benefit concert series, Black History Month Celebration, Community Growth & Development Conference in Honor of Malcom X, art workshops and more.
Museum Without Walls
The museum without walls is a series of visual and performing arts, literary, and cultural activities produced in collaboration with arts and cultural organizations thought the Puget Sound region. Events planned for 2008 include guest lectures by visiting artist and authors, special exhibits and interactive cultural enrichment workshops for children and adults with African American artists. The series concludes in December with an artistic celebration of culture honoring African and African American heritage and the principles of Kwanzaa.
